The End of One Season – The Beginning of Another

Last month we finished our itinerary in the States and then returned to Israel to begin our four months of working and living in our homeland.  Before returning to Israel we had the privilege of ministering in four Tikkkun Congregations: Adat Chaim in Kingston, NY; Shoresh David in Monroeville, PA; Kingdom Living in Overland Park, KS; and Beit Mashiach (our newest Tikkun Congregation) in Lake Worth, FL.  We were so encouraged by our time with their leadership teams and being able, in most congregations, to spend quality time with their next generation of emerging leaders.  It is always such a blessing to see godly zeal and integrity in these young people to whom we can pass the baton.

We also spent three days at a Fivefold Ministry School conference in Miami, FL, led by Apostle Guillermo Muldonato.  Over four thousand people were in attendance.  We found ourselves in a vastly different culture from our own, but the presence of the Spirit was evident.  The most impacting moment was when Apostle Muldonato prophesied concerning Israel and said that a great outpouring of the Spirit would soon come to Jerusalem.  Dan and I were in tears as it was declared with such power.

Shortly after we arrived in Israel we went on a congregational retreat up in the Golan heights near the Syrian border.  Thankfully, there were no stray missiles!  How wonderful it was to be re-united with our Israeli family at Ahavat Yeshua and what a joy to spend a whole day being outside in the beauty of God's creation during a day of perfect weather.  There are so many babies and young children growing up in our congregation plus more on the way!  To think that there is a very good chance that they will all grow up together as there is really no other place for Jews to call home.  Watching them interact with each other was such a delight.

Now we are preparing to begin meeting with our dear emerging leaders and to start traveling within Israel to the other Tikkun related congregations to strengthen and to encourage their leaders.  Please pray that our strides towards greater unity will continue and that we will even begin to have times of joint equipping.

Meeting with Kingdom Living Leaders and Ministering at Beit Mashiach

FINISHING THE RACE WELL

Most of you who receive our newsletter are probably part of our generation.  I want to share with you part of a word that I gave at Kingdom Living when I spoke there a couple of weeks ago.  Many said that the message had greatly impacted them and released them into their "later life" destiny.  I told them that when my father was retired he used to watch TV almost all day and did practically nothing with his life that had any purpose.  I asked him one day why he no longer cared about how he spent his time and he responded with these words: "Life has a way of beating you down."  When you have lived a long time on this earth, the chances are that you have been through many hardships, sorrows, losses, disappointments, soul vexation over the condition of the world, unmet goals, or relational breakups.  The list can go on.  After a while there is a slow erosion of “get up and go” and apathy, entitlement, cynicism or complacency sets in.  In short, you have lost heart.  In the past you might have been a dynamic, on-fire believer, a prayer warrior, a person that fought against injustice or the wiles of the enemy; but now lethargy has taken over.  Please know that you are not alone, David wrote numerous Psalms about his later experience of being downtrodden.

I think we can all say that we (and I include me in the 'we') have been through seasons of feeling beaten down.  However, there is a danger to losing heart.  Losing heart is a symptom of growing unbelief or hardening of heart.  It is not a pleasant place to be in as you are tempted to give up and feel entitled to indulge the flesh.  Hence, we need to encourage each other more and more as the times of the end draw near (Hebrews 10:25).  The good news is that God is faithful even when we feel faithless (2 Timothy 2:13).  He who has begun a good work in us will see it to completion (Philippians 1:6).  Pray for a Ruth in your life that sees beyond your present broken state and speaks truth about who you really are and calls you back into your destiny.  Surround yourself with those who are still full of faith and optimism in God.  Repent of unbelief, start doing the things you did at the beginning of your walk with God, seeking him with all your heart, and you will find that as you link arms with other travelers you will return to your first love and to joy.  These are the days of resurrection.  So, I want to encourage you, put your hope in God as you will yet praise the Lord and streams will burst forth in the desert (Isaiah 35:6).  He created you to bear fruit, even in your later years! Your best days are ahead!

Thank you for your love and support!
