Dear Faithful Friend,

For thirty five years we have poured out our lives serving others. We started when we were very young and we have invested all of our years in serving, discipling and encouraging others to step into the ministry that God has placed within them. As the years passed, the desire of our hearts was to see the younger ones raised up into leadership.

Over the past ten years while serving as Pastors in Ahavat Yeshua in Jerusalem, we have focused on this important goal of preparing the next generation so as to ensure the future of the congregation. Today we are happy to introduce to you Jonathan Moore. We have walked closely wth Jonathan and his wife, Simcha for many years. In fact, Simcha was our very first congregational secretary! We have watched them grow and mature as the desire to commit their lives to building the congregation has deepened with them. Over the last few years, we have witnessed the increase of the pastoral gifting in them as they willingly and selflessly care for those around them and minister to the people in many ways with much love and compassion.

I asked Jonathan to write an article sharing his vision for the congregation so that you could begin to get to know him. No doubt, the future of Ahavat Yeshua is in his hands and in the hands of the other younger leaders. Today, it is our pleasure to give you an opportunity to hear from Jonathan, a loving husband and father of three, a faithful brother, hard working deacon with a calling to be a future elder of Ahavat Yeshua. Please enjoy the meeting.

An Article by Jonathan Moore

It is such an honor to be invited to write for Zion's Glory. You probably know that Eddie and Jackie have poured their lives into young people in the congregation and we are just one of the many young families that have been wonderfully impacted by them. There are so many others who also have the privilege of calling Eddie and Jackie their spiritual parents and I feel strongly that their legacy is just starting to be revealed. You, the people who pray and give, really need to know that your sowing into Zion's Glory is about to begin the 10, 50, and 100-fold fruitfulness. Praise God!

In this my first article, I want to share my vision for Ahavat Yeshua Congregation. That's easy ... and at the same time quite difficult. Being a congregation in the heart of the City of Jerusalem which is the center of the world as we approach the end-times has its complications! On a more basic level, we in Jerusalem have a calling just like any other congregation to reach the lost and build up a strong community of faith. We are also called to be a light to the nations just like many churches who have mission boards and dedicate people and money to going out preaching the gospel. One of the main differences with a Jerusalem congregation is that we not only have a calling to be a light to the nations, but we must also receive those from the nations into our midst. Our congregation has representatives from at least 10 countries! Remember that's 10 countries in a congregation that often has 150 attendees in a given meeting.

Praise God that the Good News was able to come out from Zion and spread throughout the entire world so effectively! Now we want to complete that circuit and see the gospel impact native Israelis in a way that has not been seen since 3,000 were saved on that day on Shavuot (Pentecost). In fact, with Yeshua's promise in John 14:12, we are even believing for "greater things than these!" We are believing for Revival to sweep Israel and especially Jerusalem.

And how are we working towards that goal? Our distinctive approach includes three main elements that characterize our congregation:

1. Ahavat Yeshua desires to be a community founded on deep loving relationships. We desire that our gatherings will be a natural outcome of our relationships not have relationships be a chance outcome of meetings! We are committed to the establishment of small groups in which discipleship, accountability, worship, personal prayer, and team-based evangelism take place. In the Shabbat service, we gather together to give glory and honor to God, receive impartation, and flow in Spirit with signs and wonders present.

2. Ahavat Yeshua desires to raise up a robust five-fold leadership team (Eph. 4:10-13). This leadership will be responsible for moving the congregation towards the amazing future that lies before us. We believe in the restoration of Apostolic networks and in being linked to other communities through that network.

3. Ahavat Yeshua desires to become an example of the "Glorified Church" mentioned in Ephesians 5:27 which is "holy and without blemish". In my mind this does not mean that every single person is perfect but rather that the congregation is functioning properly in reaching the lost, discipling them into submission to God, equipping them for works of service, and sending them into the world to bring the Gospel into new areas.

Ahavat Yeshua doesn't do all the above perfectly and at just 10 years old, we feel we are just beginning! It may take another 5 years or maybe 50 years, but I know that in the end, there WILL be revival in Jerusalem and there will be native Israelis welcoming back their King. By God's grace, Ahavat Yeshua will stand, proclaiming the Kingdom of God and preparing the way for the return of Yeshua in this incredible city. Whatever I can do to be a part of advancing that goal, I will do it!
