Dear Faithful Friend,
As I write this, it is Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel and under the dark shadow of the corona virus pandemic, the nation is honoring the memory of all those who were murdered in the Holocaust. Generally, in view of the solemnity of this day, all places of entertainment are closed the night before but because of this virus, everything was already shut down and of course all the special Memorial events are being done without a live audience. At 10 am, the siren is sounded for two minutes and all of Israel stops and remembers and honors the memory of those heroes of our Jewish people. For 24 hours, all TV and radio programs are dedicated to retelling the heartbreaking stories of those who walked through that time. Israel is committed to never forgetting these people and what they endured. Sadly, some of those elderly survivors have been among those who have died from the virus in these last days.

It's been a difficult month in Israel and throughout the world. Israel is just now easing restrictions and we can see a light at the end of the tunnel - if we look hard enough! Next week is Memorial Day for all the soliders who were killed in the various wars this nation has fought in order to exist and for all those who were victims of the many terror attacks over the years. This somber day usually sees thousands of people going to cemeteries around the country to honor those family members or friends who have died. And once again, all radio and TV programs are dedicated to honoring these ones who have fallen. And again, the sirens are sounded and the nation remembers.
Mourning is followed by joy and as soon as the sun sets on this sad day, joy breaks out and the Independence Day celebrations begin with parties on the streets late into the night and fireworks in every city. We paid a heavy price but Israel lives! The celebrations usually continue throughout the next day with family and friends gathering together with picnics in homes and parks. This year, there will be another strict and difficult lockdown to prevent the traditional big group celebrations. And there will no doubt be restrictions on the various memorial services that are held in the cemeteries. One more "tightening of the belt" and following that, we are hoping and praying that the numbers will continue to decline and we will have an even greater easing of restrictions and a return to some semblance of "normalcy."
This is always a very special week in Israel as we turn our hearts to all that has happened to the Jewish people and the birth of this nation. Indeed as I was watching the "Torch Lighting" ceremony which opened this Day of Remembrance, my heart was deeply touched once again with the miracle of the birth of this nation. How incredible that Israel exists! Only God could have done it! How wonderful to know that there is a place that is safe for God's beloved Jewish people - that never again will there ever be another Holocaust.
Israel has achieved so much in every area of society since it became a nation in 1948 but its heart has remained steadfastly hardened to its Messiah, Yeshua. In fact one of the greatest stumbling blocks to the Gospel is the Holocaust as Jewish people identify the Nazis as "christian". Yet in this day of such cataclysmic events, let us join together and pray that in response to all that is happening, hearts can and will be opened as never before. Nothing is impossible with God! Pray that all the evangelistic efforts, especially those in media will find favor and touch many!
Anti-Semitism is on the rise and even more so today as Jews are being blamed for whatever is happening. One accusation being spoken is that Jews caused this situation so they may profit from it, even by developing a vaccine! And though it may seem laughable and that it's just happening on the fringes of society, on this Day of Remembrance of the worst epoch of anti-Semitism ever, let us not repeat history by ignoring the signs of the times. Let us rise up and pray against all forms of anti-Semitism and pray also for Jews to desire to make aliyah in this day while they still are free to do so.
Israel is waiting for all its people to come home! It may seem like there are giants in the Land, but God is greater and in Him, we are able to defeat all our enemies! There is no place like Home!
Good news: Israel has an emergency unity government! After 18 months of political deadlock, three elections and great division, in the eleventh hour, PM Netanyahu and Benny Gantz signed an agreement. This agreement is complicated and frought with potential political conflict but overall, it will allow the nation to go forward. Netanyahu will continue as Prime Minister for the first 18 months and then Gantz will become the Prime Minister for the next 18 months. It is not clear how it will all work as the different sides are being thrust together in a coalition where their differing views and goals are a recipe for disunity. Pray for a miracle that these leaders would act in wisdom and humility and lead this country forward in every area. These are such critical times!
Thank You! Your generosity has enabled Zion's Glory to help the congregation in its time of need. As much as there are funds, the congregation is helping those who have lost their jobs and have no income. Many of you have been so supportive and I am so blessed that in your time of great need, out of your own great trial, you are supplying what we need. God is so good and his faithfulness is without measure. How blessed we are to be in Him. There is nothing in all creation that can separate us from his love- and certainly not this corona virus!
Personally, staying home and away from people this past month has not been easy for me, especially in these months so soon after Eddie's passing. How I have missed him! Yet I can say without a doubt that God's grace is always sufficient and that He has filled my heart with hope. In my times of feeling alone, He has reminded me of the incomprehensible joy and love that Eddie is experiencing each moment and that I too am seated with Him in heavenly places. He is teaching me to keep my eyes focused on that and to see everything down here from this incredible heavenly perspective. It makes a difference!
Pray that I would continue to witness the love of the Lord wherever I go and to whomever I meet. I do believe that there are special moments in this time of crisis and we must make the most of each one. Pray that I would walk in increasing boldness without fear in this day! We will see the revival we long for!
Thank you again for your faithful support. May we walk united in faith and love as we take our place in the army of the Lord and defeat the works of the enemy in this day.
With love from Zion,
